Although Cheam Woodturners were probably the first club in the UK to experience an interactive remote demonstration, this medium has now been widely adopted by the woodturning fraternity. Cheam is now able to watch demonstrations from many woodturners who are unable to visit Cheam in person due to where they live and work. This is the case for Glenn Lucas who is based in Co. November 2021

Each year members of the Cheam Woodturners have attended events locally and further afield to demonstrate their woodturning skills and display their work. These events are an ideal opportunity to introduce the club to the outside world and a chance to invite interest- ed people to attend club meetings, catch the woodturn- ing bug, and perhaps become new members.

October 2021

After a prolonged period of COVID19 enforced exile the Cheam Woodturners were able to return to the Elmcrot Centre to resume their monthly meetings in August. Not knowing when meetings could resume has been challenging in planning the diary of demonstrations for the meetings and not knowing how many mem-bers would be keen to attend.

January 2021

This will be my last effort at a club newsletter. At the AGM in January 2020 I offered to accept the role for one year, and as members will be aware, I am not planning on standing for re election to the Committee. This is because of a hoped for move out of the area, ideally within the next twelve months. This, in part, is driven by a desire for a bigger workshop.
