At this month’s meeting Paul Howard demonstrated using various jigs that he has designed and made to enable spheres and other shapes to be turned and embellished.
The demonstration was to focus on spheres; however, before any jig was to be deployed, Paul explained how to prepare the sphere blank. The blank from which the 100mm diameter sphere was to be turned was approximately 110 x 110mm in section and slightly longer in length. To each end was hot-melt glued an offcut of similar length to the blank but of smaller section.
