September 2011
August’s meeting was an interesting discussion on pricing and design, which could have continued for longer. Thanks go to those who brought items in for review. On the design front, among other things, it was interesting to hear Greg telling us that his narrow based bowls sell much faster than ones with a wider base.
Lesley Clarke made a welcome appearance, announcing the theme for this year’s Frank Clarke competition – Bowls:
• plain for Beginners,
• decorated for Intermediate and
• natural edge for Advanced.
Following the discussion we were pleased to be able to hand over a range of pieces made from the St Mary’s timber to Hilary and John, from the Church, who were delighted with the selection, with Hilary giving us some interesting background about how the timber became available.
